Save Time with Templates
When you design a pool in VirtualPools, you invest time in choosing dimensions, finishes, accessories, and layout details. Often, you’ll create designs that are similar to previous projects, a popular size, a standard package, or a layout you know works well.
Instead of rebuilding these designs from scratch each time, VirtualPools allows you to save your work in a structured way. You can either save a design under a specific customer or store it as a reusable template for future projects.
Understanding the difference between these two options helps you stay organized, work faster, and manage multiple client projects efficiently.
What You’ll Learn
- Save completed designs as reusable templates
- Organize projects by customer
- Launch new designs in seconds
- Scale your workflow as the platform grows
Two saving options
When your design is complete and you’re ready to save, open the main menu in the top-left corner. There, you’ll find the available save options. You can choose between Save As and Save as Template. While both options store your design, they serve different purposes. Understanding the difference between them ensures your projects stay organized and easy to manage.

1. Saving Under a Customer
If the design is created for a real client, it should be saved under that customer’s name.
When saving, you can either select an existing customer from your list or create a new one by entering their name and email address. The project will then be stored inside that customer’s folder.

This allows you to keep multiple versions of a design in one place. For example, you might save different sizes, color combinations, or accessory packages for the same client. When you return for a follow-up meeting, everything is easy to find.

This option is best used for active projects and ongoing client discussions.
2. Save as Template – For Reusable Designs
Choose Save as Template when the design is not tied to a specific client, but is something you plan to reuse. A template acts as a starting model. It saves the pool structure, dimensions, finishes, and accessories exactly as they are, so you can quickly launch similar projects in the future.

When saving a template, give it a clear and descriptive name. For example, instead of “Pool 1,” use something like “Modern Rectangle 8x4”. Clear names make templates easier to find later.
Templates are ideal for:
- Popular pool configurations
- Standard packages you frequently offer
- Layouts you know perform well
When starting a new project from a template, all the main settings are already in place. You simply adjust the details to match the new client’s preferences. This reduces repetitive work and speeds up your design process.
Starting a New Project from a Template
When you return to the main page of the app, your saved templates appear next to the option to start a new project.
Selecting a template launches a new design based on that saved configuration. The pool dimensions, materials, finishes, and accessories are already applied.

From there, you can adjust the design to match your new client’s preferences without rebuilding everything from scratch. Using templates allows you to begin with structure already in place. Instead of repeating the same setup steps, you can focus directly on customization and presentation.
Managing and Finding Customer Projects
All designs saved under customers can be accessed from the main page under Open Existing. Here, you will see a list of your customers. Under each name, the number of saved projects is displayed.
Selecting a customer opens their folder, where you can view every design created for them. This makes it easy to:
- Resume a previous project
- Compare different versions
- Continue a discussion from where you left off

Keeping customer projects organized ensures that nothing is lost and that every design remains accessible for future meetings or revisions.
Perfect for revisiting conversations, comparing options, or picking up where you left off.
